When submitting an application for long-term residency for the purpose of family reunification, i.e. when close family members of a foreign researcher or a CU employee plan to move to the Czech Republic together with them, you must provide proof of sufficient total net monthly income for the entire family. The same document is then required for each application for extending a long-term residence permit for the purpose of family reunification.
This monthly income must be regular and constant – thus, submitting a statement of your account balance is not sufficient. One-off income (e.g. a scholarship), allowances, or support is also not included in total income. The best way to demonstrate your income is to submit confirmation of the amount of your average net monthly income for the three months prior to submitting the application.
Amount of funds for residency:
The minimum amount of funds for residency for the purpose of family reunification is the sum of the subsistence minimums for all assessed persons (members of the family) and their housing costs. This amount increased on 1 January 2023.
The table below (valid since 1 January 2024) shows the minimum amount of net monthly income (as the sum of the subsistence minimum and housing costs) according to the number of persons in a united family:

If a foreigner credibly demonstrates that they spend on housing an amount other than that determined by the normative housing costs, the required monthly income is calculated by adding the subsistence minimum and the actual demonstrated housing costs. Housing costs consist of rent and also the costs for gas, electricity, water, sewage, waste collection, and central heating.
